2025 International qNMR Summit in Halifax

Dear esteemed colleagues,
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we announce the 2025 International qNMR Summit that will take place on June 4-6, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Summit will be held at the Halifax Convention Centre in conjunction with the 16th International Symposium on Biological and Environmental Reference Materials (BERM 16); both hosted by the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada. We are deeply honored to collaborate with the NRC Metrology Research Centre colleagues in welcoming you to the Summit’s northernmost location – yet – of the North American continent, and realigning our magnets with True North.
Registration. The upcoming qNMR Summit 9.0 will be an in-person event only; no virtual attendance option will be offered. The qNMR Summit registration is now open on the BERM 16 website. Attendees can register for either one or both conferences, with special pricing available for those attending both.
Accommodations. Details, including deadlines and the discount code, are on the BERM 16 website. Please note that Summit attendees must arrange their own accommodations. The Summit Organizing Committee will not be able to sponsor the participants’ and speakers’ travel or offer discounted registration or hotel. However, the registration and accommodation costs are kept to a minimum.
Call for Abstracts. We are inviting abstracts for oral and poster presentations that preferably align with the following topics:
- High-accuracy qNMR quantitation in establishing Certified Reference Materials
- Economics of industrial qNMR: (hidden) advantages and (nonobvious) gains for method development, acceptance and in-process testing, manufacture, and quality control
- Digital qNMR: the path to standardless quantitation; a yellow brick road paved with good intentions?
- (q)NMR of pharmaceutical salts: simultaneous identity and accurate stoichiometry confirmation in API manufacture, finished product formulation, and stability testing; notable cases, best practices, advantages, and pitfalls
- (q)NMR in oligo-/polysaccharide analysis: authentication, characterization, quantitation, and quality control
- Site-specific isotope ratio by (q)NMR in authentication and adulteration analysis of foods and natural products
- Pharmaceutically relevant heteronuclear qNMR: practically achievable analyses with high-field and benchtop instrumentation
- Regulatory qNMR: experience with regulatory submissions and assessments; views from both sides of the table. What works?
- qNMR as a driver for environmentally austere analysis
We encourage you to submit abstract proposals even if they depart from the above topics. To submit the abstract proposal, please use the attached Abstract Template (also available here) and send it to the attention of the organizing committee team2025@qnmrsummit.com by the submission deadline, March 14 for oral presentation and March 28 for posters. We will notify the submitters of acceptance within two weeks after the respective submission deadlines, and confirm the time allocation for oral presentations, typically, 10 or 20 min.
NB: Please do not use the BERM abstract submission portal for qNMR Summit contributions: the portal is reserved solely for BERM submissions.
Preliminary Program. We anticipate the preliminary program of the qNMR Summit to be posted on the BERM and UIC websites by April 15.
Further Communications. We will provide additional details about the qNMR Summit as they become available, on the UIC qNMR Summit website: please bookmark and check regularly. You may contact the organizing team via email at team2025@qnmrsummit.com. If you prefer not to receive further updates, have a different preferred email address, or wish to include your colleagues in the subsequent mailings, please let us know.
We look forward to hearing from you and to another successful, in-person, qNMR Summit. We welcome your suggestions and proposals to ensure that this foremost scientific forum remains the most engaging, science-forward, and consequential platform for advancing the modest goal of transforming accurate chemical analysis worldwide.
With kind quantitative regards,
The Organizing Committee of the qNMR Summit 2025
